2017 Dinghy Rope Midland Series - Event 4 Northampton
Sat 10th June, Northampton SC, the 4th event in the Dinghy Rope series. The sailors were greeted to sun and a strong wind of F4-F6. The forecast may have put a few travellers off but the strong home fleet of 15 boats brought the numbers up to a respectable 22.
The racing around four bouys was fast and furious, many capsized, well most people capsized! but the standard of sailing was top draw, even in race 4 with the strongest winds of the day at 30+knts the racing was close.
Chris Brown won the event with 1st and 2nds, David Mitchell came second with a strong afternoon gaining a first and second, Tim Lewis 3rd from Island Barn with a race win in the morning. I won't mention those that fell in while leading, more practice needed.
Justin Hall is now the owner of a Fernhurst Book after winning the Fernhurst Books Vintage Boat Prize.
