The new rule was approved at the Agm but I cant find any detail, beyond us being allowed to put an extra eye in the sail leach.
I would like to set this up before the autumn gales. Are there any restrictions on what can be fitted to operate the extra eye?
Looking at the picture I would say that perhaps it is not legal as it may be adjustable when sailing. The picture does however suggest a very simple approach. Take a length of dyneema or line through the top cringle then down through the lower cringle then tie it off at the require length under the boom. No extra fittings needed and only really adjustable on shore.
This picture looks weird. The rule states: “The controls for adjusting the flattener are to be restricted to the boom and cannot be led back into the cockpit.“. I do not understand how this would work.
This is a picture I received from Ollie Davenport on a recent boat that had it fitted. Just the rear picture currently, I don't have one of where it comes out of the boom.
Any pictures of people who already implemented this?
Understand that the text of the rule is just being finalised. Thanks to the Assoc for completing any rule changes carefully
I wonder how many longer forestay have been sold since the rule change?
