Chichester Harbour Gin to sponsor Solo Southern Travellers Series & Southern Area Championship
Thursday, December 13, 2018
Martin Gilbert & Paul O’Donohue love Gin! So much so they decided two years ago to make their future in distilling their own product. Being keen sailors and living on the shores of Chichester Harbour, it seemed only natural that they would name their Gin after their beloved watery playground! During their experimental phase, they tried out various botanicals, and Chichester Harbour Gin contains not only locally sourced Bayleaf and Juniper Berries, but uniquely Seaweed as well.
Now the Southern Solo fleet can get to know their products, as we are delighted to announce that Chichester Harbour Gin will sponsor the 2019 Southern Area Travellers Series & Southern Area Championships.
Every event will have Gin on offer, with a spot prize of a bottle of their finest for every day’s racing. Additionally, the winners will receive smaller bottles, there are t-shirts on offer AND a tasting session will be arranged for one of the major events!
Martin Gilbert says “We are absolutely delighted to be supporting the Solos, we know from our research that Solo sailors love Gin, and the Southern Series introduces our products to a large number of discerning customers. I look forward to ‘talking Gin’ with the sailors, and we hope many of you will get to sample our fine product.”
Doug Latta, Class President and Southern Area Traveller shares Martin’s enthusiasm for their Gin “I have already ordered a couple of bottles, and I can honestly say it is one of the most delicious Gins I have tasted. The Southern Fleet are extremely lucky to have such generous sponsorship for 2019, and I hope that many competitors in next year’s series will be tempted to participate in more events in the hope of taking home the spot prize – not to mention the chance to compete against some of the South’s finest sailors and to visit some new venues along the way!”
Martin Frary, Southern Area Rep advises that the series dates are nearing final confirmation but will include a new venue Lymington with an early season event at the end of March, and Portchester will be hosting the Southern Area Championships at the end of September. Details can be found on the Southern Events page.
