Powerworks Data Centre Services Sponsors Solo Class Publicity

Managing Director Doug Latta, himself a fanatical Solo sailor, and current President of the NSCA, has agreed that his company Powerworks will sponsor the Class’ Publicity throughout 2020. This sponsorship will cover our Publicity Officer Will Loy’s expenses in travelling to various events, and producing his excellent articles and write-ups so as to maximise the exposure of our great Class.

Doug explains:
“Powerworks provides Data Centre Services ranging from design and build of a new Datacentre, refurbishment of an existing facility as well as ongoing maintenance and emergency service to ensure the installed equipment is operating at optimal levels.
The Datacentre physical infrastructure equipment installed includes Data Racks and Aisle Containment, Air conditioning, Fire Suppression, Backup Power systems including Generators and Uninterruptible Power Supplies, main electrical panels and power distribution, Security Access Control. Water leak detection and energy saving LED lighting.

Powerworks will carry out an assessment of a customer’s needs, and put forward a solution which ensures current best practice, with a focus on energy efficiency and resilience. Powerworks own team of engineers will carry out the installation and ongoing maintenance.
The company has been operating in this market for almost 25 years and has an impressive customer list ranging from large corporate clients such as Ageas, Cisco Systems and ITT Cannon through public sector organisations like Hospitals, Local Councils, Ambulance services, Universities and Government agencies located throughout the UK.

It often surprises me when chatting to fellow Solo sailors at the bar after racing how many are involved in operating Data Centres and could benefit from the services we offer. I’m looking forward to another cracking year’s sailing, and even if I’m away from my desk attending events, I hope that one or two will consider us for their ongoing projects. ‘Business at the Beach’ if you like!”

Comment from Will Loy

"I am looking forward to filming the class in 2020. Thanks to Doug's sponsorship deal I will be on the water, and hope to make you all look like heroes. The NSCA continues to hold it's own in the UK and abroad, partly due to the media coverage but mainly because of the amazing membership who continue to travel to events up and down the country. I look forward to seeing you all on the water at an event near you soon."
