Western Series Round Up After Open # 3 – Torpoint Mosquito

Following the Bristol Corinthians, click here, and Chew Valley opens, both won by Chris Brown.  We had a great day sailing at the Torpoint Mosquito Open on Saturday 1st June in good wind and sun.

Full report from Torpoint Mosquito available on Y&Y, click here.

The current standings in the series are below, or click this link.

Charlie Nunn is leading the series, last year’s champ followed by Steve Mitchel and Roger Gibb for a Torpoint Mosquito top 3 lock out.  John Steels the only one breaking the Torpoint stronghold on the series.  But things could all change this weekend.

I need to give a very special THANK YOU to our sponsors Dinghy Shack and especially GOAT who have furnished us with prizes galore for the last 3 events and not looking to reduce their support.  If you’ve not done so already, take a trip to the new GOAT showroom when you are in the west country next, things are looking good for them after the grand opening only a week ago.

Going forward.

Next stop, a training course at Plymouth Mount Batten on Friday 7th June, this Friday.  Get your booking in as it is currently a very low entry and a decision is due on Wednesday if it is going ahead.  Our coach Ben Flower is going to major on sailing the venue, where he has significant experience, ready for the Western Champs over the weekend, 8th/9th June.  Ben has said the venue is tricky with awkward tides and wind, especially in a southerly, fortunately not forecast for the Western Champs.  But a good opportunity to learn the venue ahead of the 2025 Nigel Pusinelli and potential 2026 Nationals. Click here to book before the Wednesday decision if it's going ahead or not.

Then we have the NSCA Western Champs at Plymouth Mount Batten on the weekend of 8th/9th June, this weekend.  Entry closes at midnight on Wednesday 5th June as per the NoR, and we cannot guarantee entry after this time which is at the organiser's discretion.  Click here to book your place, but do not leave it too late and loose out. We will have a dedicated Solo start as it is run in conjunction with the Plymouth Dinghy Regetta, for which entrants will also be competing as well as the Western Champs. Entry includes the Saturday evening BBQ. Note a £10 rebate will be provided to all competitors courtesy of the NSCA at the event.
