Rudder Stock Fittings topic

Matthew Robinson posted this 08 August 2018

Hi All. Sorting an older Severn composite out to get back on the water. Needs a few jobs doing to it. Trying to sort out the rudder fitment. The rudder that came with the craft doesn’t line up with the transom fittings. The lower sea sure fitting is too big for the stainless RWO fitting as well as not lining up.

I’ve been out of the sailing world a good few years and all my old go to chandlers in the midlands have all gone. Can anyone point me in the direction of where I can purchase suitable new fittings for the stock and transom?

Also, does anyone have a a diagram or drawing of the location of the stock position fittings in relation to the transom?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Matthew, Unfortunately, I can't see the images you've uploaded, but for rudder fittings most of the online chandlers offer a very good service.

Here's the link to the P&B site...

https://www.pinbax.com/index.asp?mc=Foils&sc=Rudder%20Fittings

Rooster also offer the same/similar...

https://www.roostersailing.com/Chandlery/Hull-Fittings/Rudders-Fittings.htm

In both cases the delivery is really quick so you'll just need to know your measurements. If you get stuck feel free to email me at [email protected]

Hope that helps. Cheers, G

Thanks for the reply. Sorry it’s taken a while to respond. Working away from home a lot at present. I will drop you an email at some point with the pictures attached. May also call upon Chris at Dinghytec as he’s not too far away. The rudder stock I have has a concoction of various fittings currently (seasure and allen) that don’t quite match up. Been out the loop a few years and just need some assistance on what’s best to fit.

Thanks
